DX Night 1/2016

On 8th December 2016, A92AA & A93LT were on the air from my portable station on the west coast of Bahrain.

The weather was windy and cold, the temperature was around 17c.

This year, I received an invitation from H. H. Shaikh Abdulla bin Faisal Al Qassimi - A66A, CEO of Emirates Amateur Radio Society (EARS) to be part of UAE contest team in CQ WW SSB 2016.

The team members consists of operators from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and UAE.

The QTH was at his farm with unbelievable setup.

Thanks to H .H. Shaikh Abdulla bin Faisal Al Qassimi - A66A and to all EARS members and to our contest team for the hospitality.

Also, Special thank to EARS board member Obaid Al Shamsi - A61DJ for his efforts in the contest.

2016 is the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, one of the greatest writers in Universal History. His most iconic novel, “Don Quixote” is the most edited and translated book in all Literature History, just behind The Bible.

To commemorate this important event, the URE (Unión de Radioaficionados Españoles), member society of the IARU, is promoting the following special event, available to all licensed hams and SWLs worldwide

Contacts will be valid in any mode and band from 160 to 10 meters with the 14 stations using the special AN400 prefix. The suffixes of the 14 special event stations are the letters of each of the letters of the name of the author

AGDX - Arabian Gulf DX Group

Since I joined the ClubLog in 2013, I was thinking to have an umbrella as a group or team in ClubLog for all hams in the GCC countries (9K, A4, A6, A7, A9, HZ) and other countries worldwide.

I shared this idea with 9K2GS - Abdulla who is very active in ClubLog, and he support me a lot to activate this group ASAP. We agreed to call our group Arabian Gulf DX Group.

The objective of registering Arabian Gulf DX Group (AGDX Group) in ClubLog is to identify our self worldwide and to know our rank worldwide too.

Email request sent to Jim - KE8G and the group officially created in the same date.

We start inviting all GCC hams to join this group, also we receive requests from other hams worldwide to join this group.

Currently, we have members from all GCC countries, other Arab countries, and from europe & north America.

The first rank for AGDX Group was 118, and we are now 85. Currently, AGDX Group consist of 35 members.

To join the group in ClubLog, follow the following steps:

3. Click Clubs
4. Click AGDX - Arabian Gulf DX Group from the list
5. Click Join Club bottom
