But as many BARS members discovered last night, sometimes the best moments on the air are the ones we never planned.

What started as a quiet evening on the 2m band quickly transformed into a vibrant, impromptu gathering of the BARS community. Without a formal call to order or a pre-set agenda, members began appearing QRV one by one, turning the local frequency into a warm virtual clubhouse.

48th Technical Committee Meeting of the GCC Technical Office for Communications

At the gracious invitation of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society (BARS) participated in the 48th Meeting of the Technical Committee of the GCC Technical Office for Communications, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 20th to 22nd, 2026.

In coordination with the TRA, a proposal was presented during the meeting to standardize amateur radio licensing mechanisms and facilitate the movement of licensed operators between the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

بناء على دعوة كريمة من هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات، شاركت جمعية البحرين لهواة اللاسلكي في الاجتماع الثامن والأربعون للجنة الفنية للمكتب الفني للاتصالات والذي عقد في مملكة البحرين 20 - 22 يناير 2026م. 

وبالتنسيق مع هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات، تم خلال هذا الاجتماع طرح مقترح توحيد آليات ترخيص هواة اللاسلكي وتسهيل انتقال المرخصين بين دول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية.
