In the world of amateur radio, we often live by the schedule. We mark our calendars for official nets, coordinate DXpeditions months in advance, and set alarms for specific satellite passes. But as many BARS members discovered last night, sometimes the best moments on the air are the ones we never planned.
What started as a quiet evening on the 2m band quickly transformed into a vibrant, impromptu gathering of the BARS community. Without a formal call to order or a pre-set agenda, members began appearing QRV one by one, turning the local frequency into a warm virtual clubhouse.

At the kind invitation of H. H. Prince Badr bin Fahad Al Faisal Al Saud, President of the Saudi Amateur Radio Society (SARS), the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society (BARS) participated in the annual meeting of the Gulf Amateur Radio Societies (GARS) held in Riyadh on February 5-6, 2026.

At the gracious invitation of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society (BARS) participated in the 48th Meeting of the Technical Committee of the GCC Technical Office for Communications, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 20th to 22nd, 2026.
In coordination with the TRA, a proposal was presented during the meeting to standardize amateur radio licensing mechanisms and facilitate the movement of licensed operators between the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
